Pill Desk Clock Designed by George Nelson
Simple by design the Pill Desk Clock says everything about the designer George Nelson; a pioneer of the American modernism movement his clocks were and still are things of exquisite simplicity and stunning beauty. Along with his contemporaries he changed forever the interior design and furnishing style of a generation and filled the gap demanded by a new army of consumers hungry for change after decades of austerity.
This George Nelson Style Pill Desk Clock is a high quality reproduction in the original style of the design. Sporting an unmistakable silhouette, characteristic of Nelson's innovative style, the two convex wooden panels make it a spectacular addition to any home or office space. With a strong, sturdy metal base and artistic clock face, it remains a favourite timepiece among today's consumers as in the 1950s.
'The Pill' was released in 1954 as one of Nelson's final desk clock designs. The clock was made from two pieces of wood, honed-down to create the two sides of the structure, adding a sculptural flourish to one of the most practical everyday accessories. George Nelson himself regarded the Pill Desk Clock as one of his finest works.
